My friend/old roommate Carly came to Orlando to visit! We spent a whole day at Universal, eating, riding rides, and of course, waiting in lines.
We honestly had the best day! Here’s what we did!

We started the day by heading to Universal Studios. We stopped at the Today Cafe for breakfast. My chocolate croissant was pretty good, but Carly didn’t like the cookies and cream puff she got. This restaurant is also where we activated our refillable cups for the day. — I highly recommend these for a long day at the parks! You only have to wait ten minutes in between each refill, and they really are so convenient. And you could totally just buy one for your family and just kind of share —
After breakfast, we headed straight for the rides. We essentially went around the park in order, and we only did the major rides we wanted to and then just little ones here and there. I will put the itinerary of our complete day at the end of this post!
Our favorite rides at Universal Studios were probably Rip Ride Rockit, The Mummy, and Transformers (my personal fave).
We then walked over to Islands of Adventure. We had planned on riding the Hogwarts Express but decided we were okay if we missed it and it would be faster if we walked.
Once we got into Islands of Adventure, we headed straight to lunch at Confisco Grille and got some food. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip, and Carly got the chicken lettuce wraps. Both were very good! After that we headed around the park starting at Super Hero Island.
Our favorites at Islands of Adventure were, Velocicoaster and Hagrid’s Motorbike Adventure. We did Hagrid’s at night, which I had never done before, and it was so fun! I will absolutely be doing that again!
After finishing our day at Universal, we headed to Disney Springs for dinner and to go to Gideon’s. Going to Gideon’s was a must on Carly’s list and I had never been! These cookies were so good. I totally get the hype now. I am obsessed. We ordered the Banana Bread Chocolate Chip, Pistachio Toffee, Original Chocolate Chip, and the limited one of the month, Cookie Butter Butterscotch. They were all amazing, but our favorites were the Pistachio and Butterscotch, with the Original being our least favorite.
It was so fun getting to spend a whole day catching up with Carly! It had been over a year and a half since we’d seen each other in person! And Universal was such a magical place for us to get to hang out.
